A Meme is always a good way to break the doom & gloom, here’s one that’s been going around lately. Answers are about myself and Neil (as opposed to myself and a mystery lover or somesuch):
What are your middle names?
Mine are Norma Antoinette (after both my grandmothers), Neil’s are Robert Tyndale (after I have no idea who, and his mother’s last name). Neither of us meet other people who also have two middle names very often.
How long have you been together?
We’ll have been together for 3 years, married for one at the end of March.
How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We didn’t. Unless you count that he read my blog.
Who asked whom out?
He asked me in an email. His offer was “let me take you on a date, so you’ll write about me on your blog.” Neither of us thought it would work out.
How old are each of you?
I’m 28, he’s 30.
Whose siblings do you see the most?
Mine, since they live much closer (brother 1: four blocks away, brother 2: Nanaimo). His are in Port Alberni, Saskatoon and Seoul.
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
The thing we most often disagree on is money and how to spend or save it.
Did you go to the same school?
We went to the same university (SFU) but not at the same time.
Are you from the same home town?
Yes and No. We’re both natives of the Metro Vancouver area, and both lived in Abbotsford for a number of years (again, not at the same time), that’s as close as it gets.
Who is smarter?
I think we’re equally smart, in different ways. Neil is much better at drilling down into things, I’m much better at anything big-picture or that involves multitasking. He’s got a better aptitude for numbers, I’m better at anything to do with words.
Who is the most sensitive?
I really don’t know. It depends on the situation, but I think we’re pretty equal in that department too.
Where do you eat out most as a couple?
When we ate out often it was usually for brunch. Since we’ve been trying to conserve funds, we haven’t been going anywhere regularly. When we do go out these days, we try to save up for something spectacular.
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Morocco
Who has the craziest exes?
In the “genuinely odd individuals” sense, I do. In the “actually mentally unstable” sense, Neil.
Who has the worst temper?
We’re equally bad-tempered. We actually instituted a rule (borrowed from a travel bio we read) that only one of us is allowed to lose our shit each day, so if one of us is on a tirade, the other tries to just keep on keepin’ on until the other calms down. I’m sure it’s saved us from many, many fights.
Who does the cooking?
Both of us. Sometimes we argue about who gets to cook, but mostly we share it pretty evenly.
Who is the neat-freak?
I absolutely am.
Who is more stubborn?
Neil.
Who hogs the bed?
Neil, or Sasha.
Who wakes up earlier?
I do, almost always.
Where was your first date?
A defunct latin dinner/dancing restaurant (Mesaluna for the locals) and a walk around Trout Lake Park
Who is more jealous?
Again, we’re about the same in that department. I swear we’re not entirely the same person – just mostly.
How long did it take to get serious?
Seventeen minutes. Give or take a few.
Who eats more?
Neil for sure. I don’t like going out for dinners without him, because then who’ll I rely on to finish what’s on my plate?
Who does the laundry?
I do, because Neil hates it. This is good, because it gets me out of dog-walking duty when the weather’s bad.
Who’s better with the computer
Considering Neil’s the one who makes a living at “computer things” I should hope he is. Also, he will hate that I called his work “computer things” and will request that I include the caveat that no, he will not fix yours.
Who drives when you are together?
Usually Neil. He’s better at holding his shit together in bad-weather driving (which is what we usually drive in) and also doesn’t fall asleep the second he gets in a car after dark, unlike his darling wife.
If you feel so inclined, go ahead and do this with answers about you and your special someone, and either post in the comments, or share a link to your own blog.
Which travel bio? It sounds suspiciously like something I have read somewhere but I can’t put my finger on it.
Here are my answers – I was bored at work. 🙂
What are your middle names?
Mine is Janine (after the Trooper song) and Andrew’s are Keith James (after his mother’s cousin and his father’s middle name). We will probably give our children two middle names as well.

Did you go to the same school?
Nope, I went to SAIT and Andrew went to Trent.
Are you from the same home town?

Who is the most sensitive?
We both have our moments but I think we are pretty equal.

We were in Afghanistan together and met up in Dubai but didn’t travel together. I guess I’d say Amsterdam since we flew there together.
Who has the craziest exes?
I’d say Andrew but he doesn’t have any kind words about some of my exes either.
Who has the worst temper?

Who does the cooking?
I do generally unless it’s the summer and then Andrew BBQ’s.

How long did it take to get serious?
Not very long. I think we fell in love with eachother while still in camp.
Who eats more?
Andrew – he’s a guy. 🙂
Who does the laundry?
We usually share but lately Andrew has been doing it all because I have no energy.
Who’s better with the computer
I’d say I am generally which really doesn’t say much. Andrew, however, is an Excel wizard.
Who drives when you are together?
Usually Andrew. I think I inherited my mother’s night blindness and rain really disorients me. I like driving but just get in the passenger seat 9 times out of 10.
erin: Slow Boat from China (about a Vancouver couple who sailed around the world)
Courtney: great answers 🙂
What are your middle names?

We’ve dating a year and six months in March.
How long did you know each other before you started dating?

Not even close.
Are you from the same home town?
Again, not even close. Not even the same country.
Who is smarter?
I’m definitely more book-smart, but he’s way better at organization and remembering things.
Who is the most sensitive?
Umm… maybe I am. I’m not sure.

We rarely eat out, but there was this one barbecue restaurant we went to pretty regularly for a while.
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
His mom’s place in the Philippines.
Who has the craziest exes?
I’d say he does. I don’t know what’s up with any of my exes these days, but his is nuts.
Who has the worst temper?
Probably me. He tends to keep his under control better most of the time, and blows off steam by exercising. I get snappy when I’m tired.
Who does the cooking?
We both do.
Who is the neat-freak?
That would be him.
Who is more stubborn?
Probably him again.
Who hogs the bed?
We don’t live together. The cat hogs my bed.
