Fun Feature

A little something new: The Weather Eye desktop weather service from the Weather Network online. I know I’m one of those retards who never actually looks outside until about 2 seconds before I’m about to leave the house – meaning I’m usually dressed totally inappropriately for the weather. This thing consistently shows the temperature, and … Continue reading Fun Feature

Cooties!

My roommate is dating. Not in and of itself anything special – but it’s fun to hear her horror stories. She’s a bit of a drama queen about it all. What makes it significant though, is that I just heard a distinctly male cough come from her bedroom. It could be one of two gentlemen. … Continue reading Cooties!

Call me Crazy…

… but this seems like the most reasonable explanation (in light of a complete and utter lack of any evidence of any toxic substances) for the “bus poisoning” debacle. Dr. Richard Mathias says it’s very possible there was never any noxious or toxic substance on the bus, where several people became ill. And he says … Continue reading Call me Crazy…

Public Service Announcement

Also titled “Jen likes to blog when she’s drunk.”

If you’re way drunker than you should be, and find that you need to go to bed, the best way to stop the spinning is to either:

a) slide one leg out of the bed and place your foot on the floor

or, if your bed’s too tall for that,

b) place your hands on, or grab firmly to a strong object that won’t move, such as a nightstand or your headboard.

Both actions help ground you, stop the spinning, and make for a more sleeping/less vomiting nighttime after drinking experience.

That is all.

Goodnight.

Celebration

I spent tonight celebrating friendship. Some old, some new – all that will last through at least the next few years (at least) I’m sure. Disclaimer: said celebration involved more drinks (mostly shots) than I have fingers for – so I’m quite drunk. That being said, in my life, I’ve never maintained friendships with anyone … Continue reading Celebration

Summer Reading

I think I’d like to focus on reading again this summer. It’s something I enjoy, and is much more interesting than TV and the Internet these days. So, stealing an idea from Mac, give me your ideas for a summer reading list! Comment with your top few books (3-5 titles is ideal) and then I’ll … Continue reading Summer Reading

The Brush Off

I had a phone screen this morning for a position that I’m only about 60% qualified for. I’m really REALLY good at that 60%, but just not experienced with the other 40% that they’re looking for. So the guy who called asked me a lot of questions, to see just how much of that 40% … Continue reading The Brush Off

Pimpin Muhself

So, I’ve been unemployed for exactly 1 week, and have managed to get in my first interview. Not too shabby. It went pretty well too – so good vibes please people! Then again, I also wouldn’t be devastated if I had a couple more weeks to enjoy the sunshine… Continue reading Pimpin Muhself

John Stewart

More for my benefit than yours, I just wanted a place to store this little snippet.

John Stewart’s Commencement Address

And if you haven’t read it yet, you should – it’s pretty great. Beat’s the spew that Mike Harcourt let loose at my commencement (which I honestly couldn’t remember a damn word of until I looked it up).

On the same note – the best commencement speech I’ve hever heard has to be when the keynote speaker simply read Dr. Seuss’s “Oh the Places You’ll Go.” If you’re having a slow blog-reading day, give that one a go-over as well.

It’s certainly something I can use these days, wondering exactly where I’ll end up next.
